Driving in Sri Lanka – License Requirements for Foreigners
If you’re planning to drive in Sri Lanka as a foreign national, please be aware of the local regulations:
License Verification Required
Sri Lanka requires foreign drivers to verify their licenses before driving. Simply holding an International Driving Permit (IDP) or a foreign license is not sufficient unless it meets specific criteria.
Important: Driving without proper verification is illegal, and in the event of an accident, you will not be eligible for insurance claims.
